BENEFITS OF HAVING A LOCAL CHAPTER
CPF - Manitoba (CPF - MB) has Chapters in several school divisions that offer
French Immersion. There are also members that exist that currently do not belong
to a specific Chapter.
CPF - MB Chapters....
- Bring members together to work to improve opportunities for children to
learn French, both in and out of the classroom
- Organize extracurricular activities such as: video nights, family fun nights,
French field trips to theatre and museums
- Have access to the CPF - MB Cultural Tour and Camp Soleil, which only visit
schools where there is a local Chapter in the school division
- Receive annual grants to provide services to their members
- Network with other Chapters to share information about advocacy and fundraising
initiatives
- Can send delegates to workshops organized by CPF - MB
- Have access to advice and training provided by the provincial organization
for local projects and activities
A Chapter can be the voice of parents in a school division. CPF - MB can offer
guidance to its chapters regarding how best to comunicate issues to school divisions.

local a CPF Chapter!
When you form a local Chapter, your Chapter:
- Can become an important local voice for the support of French second-language
learning in your schools;
- Can gain access to a large body of research and information about FSL programs;
- Will receive 65% of the membership fees paid by members in your division,
to be used for the promotion of French second-language learning;
- Will receive a $250 start-up fund; one set of the “I’m learning
French because…………..” posters; one set of the
“I’m staying in French because…………”
posters; other FSL related documentation;
- Can host and assist in coordinating summer camps, and receive any profits
incurred from such camps; members pay the reduced members-only rate;
- Can nominate a school to receive the Cultural Tour in your division for
a cost of $200.00 (*paid by the school);
- Can receive frequent updates from both provincial and national associations;
- Can send one fully sponsored representative to attend training sessions
on topics of special interest to members and Chapter representatives;
- Can have access to a solid support group of other parents and/or groups
for advice about fundraising, advocacy for programs and other issues.
- Can access an Initiative Incentive Fund, by application, of up to $200 per
year;
- Can publish one article per year in a CPF-MB newsletter (dependant upon
available space and the discretion of the CPF-MB publications committee).
- Can publish one free advertisement per year in a CPF-MB newsletter –
¼ page, $125 value (dependant upon available space and the discretion
of the CPF-MB publications committee).
- Form a CPF – MB Chapter today and make a difference as part of a
volunteer network of thousands of individuals, families and organizations
interested in creating and promoting French second-language learning opportunities
for young people.
