French Immersion Summer Camps

OBJECTIVES:

To provide an experience in the French language outside the regular classroom situation in a fun atmosphere.
To reinforce French learned in the classroom, over the summer months, to assist in developing language skills.
To give children aged 6-10, who have completed grade 1 of French Immersion, the opportunity to learn more about the French language and culture through sports, song, dance, and activities.

French Immersion Summer Camps is a summer day camp, which is offered to students in various communities across the province. The camp is offered in Chapter related communities for one week on a daily basis (9 a.m. - 4 p.m.).

A bilingual camp coordinator and camp counselor travel to various communities across Manitoba during July and August. They facilitate camps that engage participants in many activities from sports and games, to storytelling, to singing, to arts and crafts - all in the French language. Various themes are used, which encourage the children to use their French during the summer and also broaden their perspectives of French culture.
